According to a recent report released by CRU, the consumption of cable conductors in the UK was about 241,000 tons in 2021, making it the fifth largest market in Europe. The consumption of conductors is expected to grow 3% to 251,000 tons in 2022, driven by increasing demand from the construction industry as well as public power agencies.
From 2021, the construction industry and public power agencies are the major consumer markets in terms of volume. Among them, the construction industry accounts for 42% of the consumption, mainly concentrated in low-voltage energy cables and other power cables; Public utilities account for 21% of consumption.
In addition, in the automotive sector, the demand for low-voltage energy cables also accounts for 10 percent of the total conductor consumption in society.
In 2022, the consumption of conductors in the UK is expected to increase as electricity demand, renewable energy, new energy vehicles and other sectors grow, reaching 251,000 tonnes for the whole year.
